  • Section 508 Guidelines on Web Accessibility
    Provides guidelines and rules that web designers and developers must adhere to in order to qualify under the Section 508 Law.
  • UC Web Accessibility Site
    A definitive guide to web accessibility guidelines interpreted from the 508 law pertaining to University of California campus methods of digital communication.
  • WebAIM
    WebAIM provides a resource for a deeper discussion on accessibility and the future of digital communication. Articles, web based tools, tips and tricks are all available at no charge.

Tools For Accessibility Testing

  • WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool)
    WAVE is a free web accessibility evaluation tool provided by WebAIM. It provides a simplified report of areas in a page that need improvement.
  • FANGS Screen Reader
    Developers working with Mozilla Firefox can add this plug-in which simulates screen reader output in a text-based format. The program is best utilized in testing whether elements are placed in proper order on a page. The plug-in is available at no charge.
  • Vischeck: Color Blindness Simulator
    This program renders your page as it would look to an individual who is colorblind. This program is most useful for ensuring that the developers graphics and color choices are appropriate and accessible. It is also available at no charge.
