Application Development
Many departments need Internet and Intranet applications. Most departments are non-technical in nature. Due to this need and demand, AMD is now providing application development for the UCR campus.
Our team has a wide variety of experience and expertise in developing for a SUN / Oracle platform. We provide an Oracle database and use PL/SQL to access the data. Our applications are compatible across multiple browsers and we can provide you with documentation for your end users (if requested). Because we adhere to the Sun / Oracle platform and are part of Computing and Communications, you can take advantage of the following offerings:
- A team of experts on this platform within the department.
- A central location (Comp-Stat) with the following offerings:
- A "machine room" is manned 5x24 and part-time on weekend
- High speed connectivity to the campus backbone for performance
- Secure, and properly air conditioned
- The room also has an auxiliary power system (generator)
- The servers are behind a fire wall
- We provide server space on our servers for your application and take care of all backup and recovery issues.
- Our programmers develop on and support the Sun / Oracle platform. We use a consistent and professional approach, and your application will be supported in the future even if the original programmer moves on.
- Although any system can be compromised, we feel that the Solaris UNIX platform is excellent and less vulnerable than any other operating systems.
If you would like to have more control and flexibility over your systems, we can develop solutions that will allow you to make administrating easier. We guarantee that you will get personalized and dedicated service. Projects start every month. Please contact the Manager of AMD for a free estimate.

How do I get started?
Email the AMD Manager with your initial requirements and ideas. After that, the project follows these basic steps:
Consultation - AMD will gather the information they need concerning the look and feel of your site, how you want your site to work, and your site's content. Please bring the following material to your consultation:
-
Your operating details
-
Your target audience
-
The services and resources offered by your group
-
Reference, such as copies of any logo, brochures, etc.
-
A list of staff, students or people in your organization and any descriptive information about them.
Proposal - AMD will prepare an official statement and procedure for creating your project.
Design Phase - Once the proposal has been signed and an FAU has been submitted, AMD will mock-up some design concepts to aid you with visualization. At this time, your feedback will direct changes in the design until the desired effect has been achieved.
Completion - AMD will present the product to you for final approval. Upon final approval, your project will go to print.
