Computing Infrastructure & Security
Computing Infrastructure & Security (CI&S) builds and supports computing systems within C&C and in other campus departments and organizational units. Examples of user-visible systems that we built and support include the central campus email system, the Blackboard learning management system, the corporate calendaring system, and the corporate web servers.
I&S also offers department firewalls to groups that are interested in keeping their servers and desktop machines safe from outside intrusions. Other services supported by I&S are those that are less visible to users, including the corporate financial database systems and people/machine identity services such as LDAP and DNS/DHCP.
We also support individual faculty desktop and research lab Unix systems. The available support runs the spectrum from capacity planning and system architecture, to end system hardware and software maintenance management. A wide range of Unix systems are supported, from Sun Solaris hardware and software to open source Unix software systems such as Linux and FreeBSD.
