DEC Alpha (VMS) An Application for VMS Computer Accounts (Adobe Acrobat format) is required for an account. A Request for Additional Funds for VMS Account(Adobe Acrobat format) is required to have additional funds placed in a VMS account. For additional account information, call X6468 and ask for Terri. The following servers are supported: DEC Alpha, running VMS used primarily as an e-mail server and for statistical and other academic research. Accounts on the DEC Alpha may be obtained by applying at the C&C office, in the Computing & Communications Building, between 8am - Noon and 1pm - 5pm, Monday through Friday. It typically takes two business days to complete processing of Alpha accounts through the C&C office. Use of all C&C computer accounts is governed by standards of ethical conduct. Violation of these guidelines can subject the account holder to any of the following: temporary loss of account privileges, permanent loss of account privileges, written reprimand, and possible criminal prosecution. The Academic Computing Open Access Policy, approved by the Academic Senate Committee on Computers, is designed to provide: Often these objectives must be balanced one against the other. Your suggestions may help to achieve a better balance. Changes will be subject to the final approval of the Academic Senate Committee on Computers. All individuals who would like to use the DEC Alpha computers must have a valid account number. Applications for account numbers are available at the C&C Administrative Office, in the Computing & Communications Bldg. The following types of accounts are available: Passwords are the only protection that users have to insure their accounts are used only with their knowledge. C&C can at no time give out passwords or reset passwords via the telephone. The owner of the account must appear in person at the C&C office (Computing & Communications Bldg.) with proper ID to have their password reset. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Clients may change their own password at any time and are encouraged to do so frequently to maintain security via the command $set password. Instructions are available.
