Faculty Support


Phone Support

The Computer Support Services group has one phone line that is available for calls 5 days a week (Monday - Friday) from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Phone support is available to all Faculty during normal working hours. We will make every effort to answer calls as they come in, however, with recent budget cuts to the group, most calls will go into the helpdesk voicemail system.  Once a technician becomes available, they will return calls and try to answer quick questions immediately.  If the question or problem requires more than 5 minutes of phone support, your call will be logged into the Work Order system and given a ticket number.  A technician will then call back for an appointment.

On-Site Support

The Computer Support Services group provides on-site support for all Faculty office computers and smartphones/tablets. 

On-site support is available by appointment only.  Appointments are made by each individual technician according to their schedules.  Once an appointment is made, a technician will come to your office and work on your computer. 

Drop-off Support

The Computer Support Services group provides technical support on computers dropped off for service at the Computing & Communications Building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.   Please note, personal home computers cannot be serviced.

To drop-off your desktop or laptop computer for support, bring the CPU without keyboard, mouse, or monitor, and bring laptops with the electrical cord. The receptionist or the on-call technician in the C&C building will take your equipment and log it in the Work Order system for service. If no advance appointment has been made with a technician, the equipment will be serviced by the next available technician, and you will be called when the equipment is ready for pickup. Your contact information must be left with the equipment if questions arise.

Consultations with a technician about dropped off computers are available only by appointment.

Data Recovery and E-mail Recovery

Data recovery is available if the data is still available for recovery.  CSS will attempt to recover data accidentally deleted from your system or that was damaged in a hard drive crash. There is no guarantee that data will be recovered, and extensively damaged drives may need to be sent to a professional organization specializing in data recovery. All data recovered will be transferred to your new hard drive, a flash drive or on a CD.

E-mail recovery (UCR only) is available if the email is still available to be recovered.  There is a 1- 3-day turnaround for retrieving your e-mail. The recovered e-mail will be transferred to a CD, and if needed, a CSS technician will deliver and restore the e-mail.
