Enterprise Directory

Announcements

July 20, 2009

Dear UCR Faculty, Emeriti, Enterprise Directory Administrators, and Departmental Administrators / Managers,

As many of you already know, UCR's Enterprise Directory manages campus "electronic identities" commonly known as UCR NetIDs. Access to various campus electronic systems (including the wireless network, e-mail, the travel system, etc.) is enabled via UCR NetIDs and password.

In collaboration with the Academic Personnel Office and the Financial Systems Steering Committee (FSSC), Computing & Communications (C&C) is pleased to announce an enhancement to the Enterprise Directory relating to Emeritus/a faculty. This enhancement creates an automated link between the campus Payroll Personnel System (PPS) and the Enterprise Directory, and the upgrade will ensure all Emeritus/a faculty have complete access to campus electronic systems as if they were regularly employed (non-retired) faculty.

The upgrade will be placed into production on Tuesday, August 18. It is vitally important that all existing Emeritus/a faculty have an Emeritus/a Without Salary (WOS) appointment within the campus Payroll Personnel System by this date.

C&C has created a web site containing information / procedures relating to migrating existing Emeritus/a faculty to the new system (again, this must be completed by August 17 or access to campus systems will be inhibited). This web site (please visit http://cnc.ucr.edu/edir/emeriti.html) also contains information on how new Emeritus/a faculty entries should be processed upon retirement. A brief overview of migrating existing Emeritus/a faculty to the new system is presented below.

Enterprise Directory Administrators should please e-mail input, questions, or concerns to Terri McDonald (retired). Edit 10-16: Azra Ayers at azra.ayers@ucr.edu

Thank you for reading through this message and for your attention to this issue. UCR Emeritus/a faculty are active and vibrant participants in UCR's scholarly and intellectual communities, and C&C is therefore particularly pleased to announce the deployment of this important Enterprise Directory upgrade.

Overview - Migrating Existing Emeritus/a Faculty Entries

  1. Enterprise Directory Report. To assist Enterprise Directory Administrators with identifying current Emeritus/a faculty within the Enterprise Directory that require a WOS PPS entry, a new report has been created. Enterprise Directory Administrators should please select "Enterprise Directory Emeritus/a Entries" from the Enterprise Directory, General Options, Reports menu. This report will list all Emeritus/a faculty that currently exist within the Enterprise Directory that require a PPS WOS entry.
  2. PPS Entries Must be Created by August 17. Departments must complete the WOS PPS entries for all current Emeritus/a faculty by August 17th, 2009. If Emeritus/a faculty do not have an active PPS WOS appointment (using title codes 1132 or 3249) by 8/17/2009, access to campus e-mail and other UCR electronic application will be inhibited.
  3. Upgrade to Occur on Tuesday August 18, 2009. C&C will deploy the upgrade to the Enterprise Directory on August 18. Any PPS WOS entries containing title codes 1132 or 3249 will automatically update the Enterprise Directory and the Emeritus/a faculty will have the same access to campus email and systems as non-retired faculty.
