Getting Connected


Connecting to Your eStorage Space

Your Department CFAO, MSO, or other senior administrator will notify you that their eStorage account has been established and is available for your use.

Connecting on a Windows PC

Instructions for Windows

Click the Start button

Select the Run... menu item
(If the Run.. command is not visible, see "Adding the 'Run' command to the Start Menu" below.)

In the Run window, enter the address: \\estorage.ucr.edu

Click OK

A new window will open listing existing eStorage shares. Select the folder that matches your organizational unit, also known as "ou".

*This example shows an individual person's folder, however, eStorage is intended primarily for ou-level entities.

Authenticate using your UCR NetID and password. You will need to add ADS\ before inserting your NetID ("ads\myNetID").

Check the "Remember my credentials" box if you want Windows to save your login.

Click OK

Once inside the space, you can add files and create folders if you have been given permission to do so. Please see the documentation on Using your eStorage.

Adding the 'Run' command to the Start Menu
Right click the Start button and select Properties. adding the run command - properties

Scroll down the list to find Run command. Click on its check box then click OK at the bottom of the window. adding the run command - run
Click OK again in the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window.

Connecting on Mac OS X

Click the Finder icon; the Finder icon is always the leftmost icon in the dock. Click to Expand
Click Go > Connect in the menu bar at the top of the screen Click to Expand
Type smb://estorage.ucr.edu in the Address field Click to Expand
Click the + button to add eStorage to your Favorite Servers list Click to Expand
Click Connect Click to Expand

Enter your UCR NetID in the Name field and your password in the Password field. Click Connect.

*It may be necessary to type ads\ before your Net ID

A new window will open listing existing eStorage shares. Select the volume that matches your organizational unit, also known as "ou". Click OK. Click to Expand
A new window will open with the contents of the share listed, and a new volume icon will appear on your desktop. Click to Expand

Once inside the space, you can add files and create folders if you have been given permission to do so. Please see the documentation on Using your eStorage.
