Exchange E-mail

Import Email Folders

Using Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2011 for Mac will enable importing E-mail folders from various clients that are stored locally on your machine. Clients set up for IMAP store email on the server; these messages automatically are migrated. However, mail POP'd and stored locally are not automatically migrated. If you POP your email using one of the following clients, you can import email folders into an Exchange client.

Outlook (old mirapoint account) to Outlook (Exchange account)

Everything on the server (what shows up in webmail) will be automatically migrated, but if you have set up folders and POP'd down your email using Outlook, you may want to transfer your Outlook (mirapoint account) message folders by exporting and importing them into your newly created Exchange account.

Click on the 'File' tab, select 'Open' and 'Import' to launch the Import/Export Wizard

Select the folder to export from. In most cases you'll start with 'Inbox' and repeat the above steps for other folders. If you want to include subfolders of the folder, keep the check box checked. Click 'Next'.
Press the 'Browse...' button and name your exported file. Once you have named your file, click 'OK'. Select the option of choice. Additionally add a password.

Import Eudora E-mail Folders

Files must reside in the folder C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora. Copy files over if located elsewhere on your hard-drive.

If you do not want to import all Eudora mailbox folders, make a copy of the "descmap.pce" file and store the original in a separate folder. The "descmap.pce" file stored in the proper Eudora folder will need to be manipulated. Open this "descmap.pce" file with Notepad and remove mailboxes and folder names that you do not want to import and save the file. Do the import as stated below then delete the manipulated .pce file and replace the non-manipulated copy back into the Eudora folder to keep as a full archive.

Note: There are three known issues with most Eudora versions when importing folders into Outlook. C&C is currently researching for the simplest workaround. For now, please keep your Eudora as an archive.

  1. HTML tags appear in message headings and body of emails. The message is still readable.
  2. Time stamps for emails will change from sent/received date to the date of import.
  3. Attachments will not import.

Another option is provided in moving over Eudora folders that bypasses these caveats. Please see Eudora Folders for more information.
