ACADEMIC COMPUTING HIGHLIGHTS

  1. IT Initiative Funding to be used for Direct Faculty Support.


  2. An enhanced "Web Course in a Box" Service will be deployed on a test basis during Winter Quarter '98.


  3. As a side benefit of this service, C&C will offer faculty "stand alone" class listserves (again, updated automatically based on input from the SIS+ System).

COMPUTING SUPPORT SERVICES HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Reorganization of Computing Support Services is Now Complete.


  2. Three units now make up Computing Support Services (Help Desk, Academic Computing Services, and Microcomputer Support Group) and several job searches are underway.


  3. SCOTMAIL, UCR's Central Listserve System, is Up and Operational.

ADMINISTRATIVE COMPUTING HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Current SIS Applications Available Via the Web Include Enrollment, Grades, Course Confirmations, Address Changes, Parking Permit Requests, and Pin Changes.


  2. Major Edify Upgrade Planned; new SIS Web Applications Planned.


  3. Web Access to SIS Popular and Growing.


  4. PPS Activity.


  5. Other IC projects - IBM/Web activity.


  6. Miscellaneous - All COM-PLETE systems have now been replaced by CICS systems.

CLIENT SERVER HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Development of UCR's new Automated Travel Management System is well underway. The new system will use Microsoft's Active Server technology.

  2. PeopleSoft's Budgetary Infrastructure is almost ready and development of the Transfer of Fund application will begin shortly. Also, there has been a change in the PeopleSoft deployment strategy, emphasizing a "point in time" cutover, scheduled for sometime in FY 98/99.


  3. Development of UCR Employee Info Base to begin shortly.


  4. Contract for new Oracle based Physical Plant CMMS system to be awarded in January, 1998.
