  1. Campus Web Course in a Box Participation has Increased Dramatically. Almost 100 Classes now have WCB Web Sites and Over 4,000 Students are listed on WCB Rosters and Listserves. CENTER FOR VISUAL COMPUTING HIGHLIGHTS

  1. C&C's CVC Continues to Collaborate with Faculty on the Creation of Scientific Images and with Faculty and Departments on the Creation and Design of Web Sites. For an example, please see International Vitamin D Workshop Web Site ( http://vitamind.ucr.edu).


  2. CVC is Developing Applications to Enhance Various Campus Web Sites; for example, routines for On-line Fleet Reservations and Tracking.


  3. CVC Collaborated on the Implementation of Version 3.5 of INFOMINE. The Following Site documents some of the recognition INFOMINE has received: (http://infomine.ucr.edu/welcome/awards.html ).


  4. CVC Created Images and Video for the 1/99 Issue of Molecular Biology of the Cell (http://www.molbiolcell.org).


  5. Other Recent CVC Projects include animation to Promote UCR's Basketball Team.

ADMINISTRATIVE COMPUTING HIGHLIGHTS

  1. UCR has Contracted with UCOP to Run Payroll at Office of the President. UCR's PPS should go live at UCOP in January 1999.


  2. UCR's Dual Sun Enterprise 250 Student Information Web Servers are now Load Balanced and Monitored for Availability by Resonsate Software.


  3. Dual Sun Enterprise 250s, with Sun's newly released High Availability / Clustering Software, were Recently Purchased to act as Web Servers for WWW.UCR.EDU.

CLIENT SERVER HIGHLIGHTS

  1. 20 PC Lab has been Established for Financial System Training.


  2. Initial Campus Training on PeopleSoft Applications (Budget Establishment and Adjustment and Post Audit Notification) took place on 1/8/99. Please click here for a list of upcoming PeopleSoft Training Classes.


  3. PeopleSoft Indirect Cost Recovery Process Nearing Completion.


  4. PPS Conversion Process (to the new PeopleSoft Full Accounting Unit, FAU) Continues.
