Classroom Technology
Empowering Educators through Advanced Classroom Resources
UCR has 83 general assignment classrooms that are state-of-the-art teaching facilities. Classroom Technology provides faculty with the multimedia tools for all their instructional needs -- Smart Classrooms are equipped with a standard array of presentation equipment.
The Classroom Technology Plan, a four-year commitment to classroom technology renewal and replacement, has been coordinated and implemented in direct support of instruction -- faculty no longer need to schedule equipment for delivery, usually finding what they need available in their classrooms.

All general assignment classrooms have been upgraded with LCD projectors (XGA resolution; 4000 to 7000 lumens) DVD players, and SVHS players. The larger lecture halls have wireless microphone systems, PC computers and high-resolution document cameras.
Faculty response to this upgrade effort has been overwhelmingly positive. 95% of faculty found the available technology meeting their pedagogical needs. Faculty also expressed the following priorities for future Smart Classroom improvements:
- Dual projection systems similar to that found in UNLH 1000
- Single point of control similar to that found in UNLH 1000
- Tiny-footprint computers (keyboards and monitors) allowing classroom access to the campus server (which would allow access to PowerPoint, Blackboard, streaming video, etc.)
- Videoconferencing equipment
As funding permits, Classroom Technology will continue to upgrade presentation technology and provide better technical tools for faculty in the classroom.
