New CIO: Danna Gianforte

Danna Gianforte will join UCR on December 1 as Associate Vice Chancellor for Computing and Communications and Chief Information Officer. Danna will succeed Chuck Rowley, who will be retiring after many years of exemplary service.

Cybersecurity Month

Office 365 Email, Calendar, and Apps

A University-wide migration for staff from on-premises Exchange email accounts to the Microsoft’s cloud-based collaboration suite called Office 365 took place during the summer.

Wireless Network – Planned Outage for Critical Security Updates

(January 15, 2016)

Computing & Communications Network Security team will be conducting a critical security update to the campus wireless network. The upgrades will take place between January 19-22, 2016, during the early morning hours, and per the schedule. Click on link for more info.

Enterprise Systems will be unavailable on 12/19/15

C&C will be performing a necessary database upgrade to systems supporting instructional applications (e.g. iGrade and PhotoRoster) as well as all UCR enterprise applications (R’Space, R’Web, eBuy, TARS, iTravel, etc.). iGrade, PhotoRoster and all enterprise systems will be unavailable this coming Saturday (12/19/15) from 6:00 am - 9:00 am. Windows XP Support is Ending

On April 8th, 2014, Microsoft will end support for Windows XP. No security updates or technical support will be available after that date. Computers running the Operating System, Windows XP, on campus will become vulnerable to threats such as viruses, malware, and hackers and will put UCR systems, networks, and data at significant risk.

Microsoft Word RTF vulnerability

(April 4, 2014)

Microsoft has released a Security Advisory about an exploit that makes MS Word and MS Outlook vulnerable to attackers via opening up an RTF attachment or email message. A "Fix It" tool and workaround is available, as well as more information.

iLearn system upgrade 12/18-12/20

We will be performing an application version update and a database upgrade to our learning management system, iLearn. iLearn will be unavailable on Wednesday 12/18/13 8:00am through Friday 12/20/13 12:00pm.

It is now easier to create Guest Wireless accounts on campus! UCR faculty can now create up to ten accounts at a time, and the duration of these accounts may be extended on an as needed basis.

Version Upgrade to iLearn

This upgrade needs to be completed in order to enhance functionality as well as increase system security. iLearn will be unavailable on Thursday 12/20/12 from 8:00am-8:00pm. This is a software version upgrade. Operation will remain unchanged and course sites will be preserved as designed prior to the upgrade.

iLearn system upgrade 9/18-9/20

Computing & Communications will be performing a version upgrade to our learning management system, iLearn. This upgrade needs to be completed in order to enhance functionality as well as increase system security. iLearn will be unavailable for use during the following time period: Tuesday 9/18 8:00am - Thursday 9/20 8:00pm.

CAS Certificate Migration

(July 12, 2012)

C&C is retiring the current host and certificate on July 15, 2012 due to the expiration of its certificate. Sites and applications using the Central Authentication Service across campus must migrate their webserver to use a new host and certificate for CAS.

New wireless access service, "eduroam"

(May 31, 2012)

Eduroam is an international wireless exchange service.  It allows faculty, staff, and students from participating institutions to use their local credentials (e.g. your UCR NetID and password) to authenticate to wireless services.
