Gaining Access
If you would like to use UCR's RAS service, here is what you need to do:
Make sure that you have an account on citrus or faculty. Your RAS username and password will be e-mailed to your account on one of these computers. If you do not have an account, you will need to fill out a computer account application. Here is the form in Adobe PDF format. You will need to return the application in person to the Computing and Communications reception desk in the Computing Building. You must also show a valid picture ID.
Send an e-mail message to Terri McDonald (terri.mcdonald@ucr.edu), requesting an account on the RAS.
Check your e-mail for a message containing your username and password that will allow you to access both the RAS and proxy web service.
Once your RAS/proxy account has been created, you can set up remote access on your home computer or laptop. Here are some basic instructions for setting up to use RAS on Macs and PCs. These instructions assume that you have a working modem in your computer and that the operating system components required for remote access are installed. If you do not have the software referred to in the installation guides, call UCR's Microcomputer Support Group at x3555.
Here are some basic instructions for setting up to use the Proxy Web Page for
Netscape
Navigator and Internet
Explorer. These instructions assume you already have working connection to
a personal ISP. |
