POP & IMAP Access

R'Mail can be accessed via e-mail clients such as Thunderbird or Outlook. In order to access your R'Mail account with an e-mail client, you will need to enable IMAP or POP access in your R'Mail account, set your Google password, and configure your e-mail client

Enabling POP/IMAP

In order to use a POP/IMAP e-mail program with your R'Mail account you will first need to enable POP/IMAP access:

  1. Go to R'Web to log in to R'Mail.
  2. Click "Settings."
  3. Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
  4. Enable IMAP and/or POP:
    1. IMAP - Select Enable IMAP
    2. POP - Select Enable POP for all mail
  5. Click Save Changes

Setting Your Google Password

Your Google Password is your password for IMAP and/or POP access to your R'Mail account. This is separate from your UCR password which is used for web-based access to R'Mail.  To set your Google Password:

  1. Go to http://password.ucr.edu
  2. In the second form on the Password Change page labeled Set Google Password, fill in your UCR NetID password, then set your password for logging into POP/IMAP. This does not have to be the same as your UCR Net ID password.
  3. Click the "Set Google Password" button.

Configuring Your Client

Once you have enabled POP/IMAP access for your R'Mail account you will need to configure your e-mail program to receive and send e-mail through R'Mail.
