Student Lab Consultants
Student Computing Services is currently hiring for Winter 2010 Lab Consultant positions. To apply, please come to Watkins 2117, with picture ID, at any of the following times to take the Consultants' test (test starts at the time listed and lasts for 50 minutes):

Pay: $8.75 per hour
Job Description:
Provide general assistance in a courteous, professional manner to UCR students at the Watkins, Statistics, Sproul and Arts Computer Labs.
Qualifications:
- Applicants should be full time UCR students, should potentially be able to work for at least 3 quarters, and should be able to work at least 5 hours per week Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
- Hiring is dependent upon passing a test, interview performance, and being able to fill the available hours in our work schedule.
- Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with PC and Macintosh systems software as well as SCS services is desirable.
- Hardware knowledge a plus.
Job Duties:
- Assist clients with their questions and their use of the lab.
- Answer lab telephone in a professional and helpful manner.
- Enforce all lab policies.
- Monitor lab to see if any clients need assistance.
- Check email daily for any announcements.
- Make sure there is an adequate supply of paper in the printers
- Perform basic troubleshooting on machines that are not working.
- Perform routine maintenance of printers, such as changing paper and toner.
- Enter hourly usage survey data into database.
- Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the lab during your shift.
- Clean assigned machines once per week.
