Data Sanitization - Steps to Follow
The following steps provide a high level and practical approach to ensure appropriate Data Sanitization of UCR electronic storage devices.
- Step 1
If you have any questions about Data Sanitization practices within your department or organization, please contact the appropriate support individual listed on the contact section of this web site (or send an e-mail to the C&C Helpdesk ). - Step 2
Sanitize the electronic storage device using one of the methods identified on this web site. - Step 3
Send the sanitized electronic storage device to Equipment Management for appropriate disposal. Include a completed Data Sanitization form with the device that is sent to Equipment Management.
Please Note - If Step 2 is not possible, departments and organizations must inform Equipment Management that the electronic storage device must be sanitized as well as disposed.
