Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client

The AnyConnect Mobility client allows faculty, staff, and students connection to the UCR network while on their iPhone/iPad or Android device.

Software Access

The Cisco AnyConnect App is available on the application marketplaces: Apple iTunes App Store (iOS 4.1+) and Google Play. Below are instructions for iOS devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad) and for Android devices.

iOS

Install AnyConnect on iOS
Download the app from the App Store
1. Select "Cisco AnyConnect" from Cisco Systems, Inc. Tap "Free". Any Connect mobile step 1
2. Tap "Install App". Any Connect mobile step 2
3. The first time you click on the AnyConnect icon to run it, you will see a message asking if you wish to extend the VPN capabilities. Click "OK". Any Connect mobile step 3
4. On the Cisco AnyConnect "Home Screen" click "Connections" then click on "Add VPN Connection..." Any Connect mobile step 4.1

5. Enter a Description for the VPN connection (example: UCR). In the Server Address, type vpn.ucr.edu. After, click "Advanced". Any Connect mobile step 5
6. In the Advanced screen, leave "Network Roaming" toggle in the ON position and click "Certificate".
7. Choose "Disabled" in the Select Certificate screen. Return to the previous page by clicking "Advanced" 
8. Return to the "Add VPN Connection" screen by clicking on the button of the same name at the top. 
9. Click "Save" in the upper right to save the UCR profile. 
Using AnyConnect on iOS
1. To use the AnyConnect VPN client with the UCR profile, in the AnyConnect Home Screen, move the "AnyConnect" VPN toggle to the ON position. Using AnyConnect step 1
2. In the Authentication screen, type in your Username and Password. Your username is your NetID. Click "Connect". Using AnyConnect step 2
3. VPN connection has been established. An icon next to the wireless/3G icon will appear to show connection. 
4. To disconnect, toggle to the OFF position. 

Android

Install AnyConnect on Android
Download the app from the Google Play Store
1. In the Play Store search for "Cisco AnyConnect". Any Connect mobile step 1
2.  Select AnyConnect VPN then click "Intall" Any Connect mobile step 2
3. The first time you run the AnyConnect client you will be prompted to accept the Supplemental End User License Agreement.  Review the agreement and click "OK". Any Connect mobile step 3
4. On the Cisco AnyConnect home screen click "Connection" then click on "Add New VPN Connection..." Any Connect mobile step 4

5. Enter a Description for the VPN connection (example: UCR). In the Server Address type vpn.ucr.edu. Click "Advanced Preferences". Any Connect mobile step 6
6. In the Advanced Preferences screen click "Certificate". Any Connect mobile step 7
7. Choose "Disabled" in the Certificates screen. This will return you to the Advanced Preferences screen. Any Connect mobile step 8
8. Click "Done" to return to the Connection Editor. Any Connect mobile step 9
9. Click "Done" to save the UCR profile. Any Connect mobile step 10
Using AnyConnect on Android
1. To use the AnyConnect VPN client with the UCR profile, in the AnyConnect Home Screen, move the "AnyConnect" VPN toggle to the ON position. Using AnyConnect step 1
2. In the Authentication screen, type in your Username and Password. Your username is your NetID. Click "Connect". Using AnyConnect step 2
3.  The first time that you connect you will receive a warning that AnyConnect attempts to create a VPN connection.  Check the box for "I trust this application" then click "OK" Using AnyConnect step 3
4. To disconnect, toggle to the OFF position.  Using AnyConnect step 4
