Dashboard

When you first log in to the wiki, you will be presented with the Dashboard. On the left you will see the list of spaces you have access to. This list has two tabs: "My" will display a list of only the spaces you have marked as your favorites, and "all" displays all of the spaces you have access to. On the right, you will see recent updates to spaces you have access to view, and below that, a list of pages you have marked as favorites so you can quickly access them later.

Spaces

A "space" is an area of the wiki, and generally consists of a collection of pages, attachments, and other content. There are two kinds of spaces:

Spaces

Personal Spaces

Everyone with access to the wiki may create a personal space. You can use a personal space to post contact information, blog posts, etc. Personal spaces are listed in the People Directory, and may be configured to be Public, i.e. viewable by all wiki users, or private, with access restricted to individual users or groups.

Personal Spaces

Global Spaces

Global spaces are listed on the Dashboard, and are generally used by a group of individuals to store content that can be viewed and edited by members of the group. Global spaces may be public, i.e. viewable by all wiki users, or access-restricted, with very granular access control settings for viewing and editing pages.

Where a personal space might be used for one-to-many distribution of information, global spaces are more appropriate for collaborative distribution of information.

Every global space consists of a Home page as well as additional pages, blog posts, bookmarks, etc. Global spaces include all the same options as personal spaces, as well as some additional features like custom space logos.

Global Spaces

Pages

Spaces are made up of one or more pages, which are used to organize information logically. A space can contain any number of pages, which can be arranged hierarchically to aid in navigation. By default, pages can be browsed using the left navigation bar, which also includes a convenient search option. Pages may have files attached to them, and can be linked to one another, and may include comments by those who have access to them.
