Clickers

Loading a Roster

You will need to periodically associate the most current version of the roster for your course with the Analyzer software as students continue to register their clickers, and especially before you submit final grades, to ensure that students receive proper credit.

Before you get started, log in to download the most current version of your roster from the clicker database website. For information about how to download a roster, see the "Downloading a Roster" Knowledge Base topic.

**NOTE RE: Cross-listed Courses: The Analyzer software can only accommodate a single roster file. Rosters for courses that are cross-listed with the same meeting time and location must be downloaded from the clicker database website as separate .csv files. Instructors would then merge information from multiple rosters together into a single roster file using a simple copy and paste method (copy information from one or more downloaded rosters into another). In these instances, instructors will need to associate the combined version of the rosters for their cross-listed course(s) with the Analyzer software so that students enrolled in separate listings can all receive credit for responses.

1. In the Analyzer software, go to “Remove Roster”  to dis-associate the old version of the roster:

In the Analyzer software, go to “Remove Roster” to dis-associate the old version of the roster:

You might want to also remove the old version of the roster from the data sets folder, but it is good practice to maintain an archive of prior versions of your roster somewhere.

Or you could just physically remove the roster from the data sets folder , but it is good practice to maintain an archive of prior versions of your roster somewhere.

2. Put the new version of the roster in the same folder as the data sets:

3. Go back to the Analyzer and select “Roster” > “Load Roster,” selecting the last formatting option:

**If this format doesn’t work, try again using the one above “Blackboard Quiz Output:”

4. Navigate to the current roster file and click open:

5. Back in the Analyzer, you will see your students names and clicker numbers in the “Roster” tab:

Once 1) students register their clickers at the clicker database website, and once 2) you download and associate a current version of the roster with Analyzer from this same clicker database website reflecting new clicker registration information, the credit for responses students submitted using their previously unassociated clickers will become theirs.

For more information about unassociated clicker IDs, see the Clickers Knowledge Base topic called "Unidentified Clicker IDs."
