The notes below describe phased development and deployment plans for UCR's emergency notification system.

Phase I

October / November 2007. Faculty, staff, and students sign-up and provide emergency notification information (e.g. contact information, alternate e-mail, home phone number, cell phone number, etc.), and the capability for UCR (campus police and safety staff) to contact faculty, staff, and students using these various modalities from the vendors (3N's) web site is deployed (e.g. entering a message on the vendor's web page and having a message sent to cell phones and alternate e-mail accounts).

Phase II

November 2007 / December 2007 / January 2008. UCR provides additional data to the vendor (3N) allowing UCR to contact faculty, staff, and students by campus location (e.g. by building or groups of buildings).

Phase III

Early - Mid 2008. Additional deployment of communications channels are integrated with the vendor's messaging tools (e.g. the ability to send a message, from the 3N web page, to all campus voice mail boxes).

Phase IV

Continuing over the next 12 to 18 Months. The development of standards, beta testing, and piloting of other technologies integrated with the emergency messaging infrastructure (e.g. controlling digital signage across campus from the vendor's emergency messaging system; control audio loud speakers from the messaging system, etc.).
