Google Drive

Google Drive allows you to create, store and share files anywhere that you have access to a computer and internet.  There is no need to sign up, it is already part of your R'Mail account.

Every student has unlimited storage shared between R'Mail, Google Drive and Google+.

File Types Supported

You can store any file type in Google Drive, though not all can be viewed in your browser.  Most common graphic, video, music, text, or Office file types can be opened by Drive in your web browser.

How to Access Your Drive

You can access your drive by either:

  • Logging to R'Mail then clicking on Drive in the top menu, or
  • Downloading the Drive application for your computer, tablet or smartphone

If you have a non-UCR Google account you can use Google's Multiple Sign-In feature to allow access to both of your accounts in the same web browser at the same time.

Using Google Drive

Once you have accessed your Drive you can

  • Upload files to it
  • Create new files such as documents, spreadsheets and presentations in Microsoft Office compatible formats.
  • Share and collaborate on files.  When sharing files Drive gives you multiple access level options.  You can allow anyone with the link to view and/or edit the file, or you can restrict that access to specific people.
