MAC OS Instructions


Connecting to "ucrwpa" or "eduroam" Wireless Natively

Instead of using the Secure W2 Utility to configure UCRWPA or EDUROAM, You may use the Airport card built in configurations found for your specific operating system.

Configure my Airport card for Mac OS X 10.7.x and above

1. Click on the Airport icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen, next to the system clock. Click on "Turn Wi-Fi On" if the Airport card is off. If ucrwpa is not automatically detected click on "Join Other Network...". step 1

  1. UCRWPA: For the "Network Name" enter ucrwpa (all lower case) In the "Security" drop down menu, select WPA2 Enterprise enter your UCRNetID and UCRNetID password, then click on the "Join" button.
  2. eduroam: For the "Network Name" enter eduroam (all lower case) In the "Security" drop down menu, select WPA2 Enterprise enter your UCRNetID@ucr.edu and UCRNetID password, then click on the "Join" button.

Note"Mode" should be set to Automatic.  Make sure that "Remember this network" is also checked.

It is recommended that the option for Show AirPort status in menu bar be enabled in the Network section of the System Preferences.

3. If you have not previously connected to UCRWPA you may be prompted to accept the server certificate.  If so, click Continue.  You will then be prompted to enter the username and password for your computer.  Enter your computer login then click Update Settings.

4. Wait a few seconds. If you are in an area of coverage, the Airport icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen will turn black signifying the level of signal strength. When you click on the Airport icon, you will see ucrwpa or eduroam listed.

The device is now active on the UCR wireless network.
